Romans 3:23-24 New Living Translation
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall
short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right
in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the
penalty for our sins.”
Contrary to what many folks believe,
there are no big and little sins. Murder, while horrifyingly heinous, is no
different in God’s eyes than hate for another individual. Adultery is no
different than pride. A sin is a sin is a sin is a sin. Evil cannot dwell with
God. Sin is evil and sinning makes us a sinner. Sin cuts us off from God. Even
after salvation we can still dabble in sinful practices that can stunt our
spiritual growth and temporarily sever our relationship with God. This action
begs the question, “If God seems far
away, who moved?” All sin separates us from our Heavenly Father, but all
sin can be forgiven.
Followers of Christ are forgiven. A
do over … a 2nd chance … a mulligan. Life can be very hard and
unforgiving. The Lord uses the harshness of this life to teach us valuable
lessons that aid in the spiritual maturation process. We are free to live as we
choose, but God’s desire is that we seek to live a life that pleases him. Why
not just please yourself? Because we cannot know what is best for us … only the
One who made us can know that.
Because of God’s forgiveness we are
seen as righteous in his sight. He sees us thru a veil of Jesus’ blood. The
blood turns off some folks due to their dislike of the gore, but without the
blood there is no redemption. Once redeemed we are said to be washed in the blood of the lamb. Without
the blood there is no hope and no future.
Embrace a bloodied and beaten Christ, for it is THAT Christ that freed
us from the penalty of ALL our sins. Until next time, walk with the King and be
a blessing!
