NO GRIPING ALLOWED

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.”  Philippians 2:14-16a
Have you ever had to do something you really didn’t want to do?  I have. It’s a struggle not to complain, at least to yourself, about your circumstances.  Let’s take a job for instance.  Let’s say you are working somewhere you’d rather not be and you are not very happy about it.  Your pay is low and the volume of work required of you is very high.  People around you are constantly griping about the bosses or the company itself or both.  The atmosphere is somewhat less than positive and it’s starting to affect your performance.  How do you keep from joining in the chorus of negativity?
God expects us, as His children, to rise above the cynics of this world and rejoice; 1) that someone has deemed us worthy of employment and 2) that we now have a mission field where we can practice thinking, speaking and acting like Christ.  That doesn’t mean we start quoting scripture with every breath we take.  What it means is that we ask God to use us at the start of each shift and then live a life filled with mercy and grace.  We aren’t perfect and never will be this side of heaven, but God has provided us with a tailor made situation where we can hone our gifts and be a blessing to someone each day.
The Christian life is exciting.  We never know what God’s going to do from day to day, but we can be sure it will not harm but only benefit us.  Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
