“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my
anxious thoughts. See if there is any
offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
It’s a bold and courageous move for a man to desire to
become acquainted with his inner self.
Scripture tells us that God is the only one who can know the motivation
of a man’s heart. David asks the Lord to search his heart for the purpose of
finding any offensive way in him, which is meant to be a statement of
subjugation. He is submitting himself to
God. He is subjecting himself to the
scrutiny that comes from the Holy God he serves.
What about us? Will
we do the same thing? We ought to. Since God only desires that which is helpful
and most beneficial for us, He can be trusted without question. He would never do anything to harm or
disgrace us, for we bear His name and are His children. God will remain faithful to us regardless of
our own faithfulness.1
Knowing that God can be trusted and knowing that He also
knows every thought, word and/or deed we have, should be a comfort to the
believer, for this tells us unequivocally that God knows all about us and our
circumstances. Surrender your will over
to the Lord and allow Him to rule and
reign over your life. Until next time,
walk with the King and be a blessing!
1 2 Timothy 2:13 (ESV) “… if we are faithless, he remains
faithful - for he cannot deny himself.”
