“Blessed is
the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all
mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth — he who
forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.” Psalm 33:12-15
On
this fourth of July we should reflect on where we’ve come from both as a nation
and as individuals. A fledgling nation
who broke away from British rule to carve out an existence in a new and untamed
land looked to God for guidance and provision. Over the decades that have
followed America has become somewhat arrogant of their need for any sort of
Godly influence, in many ways turning from Him to go their own way. God sees and knows, yet in spite of this He
has still chosen to bless this nation.
The difficulties we suffer are the consequences of collective poor
decisions, but as long as there is even one man standing who will cry out to
God for this nation and its’ inhabitants there is hope.
There is, in fact, an
abundance of hope for there are millions of believers who pray for themselves,
others, the government and the nation as a whole. God is very much aware of all that has, is
and will take place in this great country that He has given us. Our job is to keep our focus squarely on the
Lord and seek His loving direction each day.
God knows those who have placed their trust in Him and will never fail
any of us. No matter what circumstances
we find ourselves as individuals or as a nation, God is there to comfort and
lead us into all the blessings He has stored up for us. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
