SPIRIT WALKING

“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify (1) the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” (Galatians 5:16-17)
Walking in the Spirit is a sign that you are one of God’s children. Satisfying your own selfish desires is human and the natural inclination of an unregenerate soul. Once saved the two war against one another continuously. It doesn’t have to be that way. Our relationship with God is a personal one and can be as intimate as we want it to be. It isn’t meant to be a head nod as you thank ‘the big guy upstairs’ for this or that. It is to be an alteration of your lifestyle. God is to become the driving force behind all you think, say and do. This is a progressive act that can take a lifetime to accomplish. It really all depends on how much you put into it. It’s what God expects in exchange for the forgiveness He purchased for us through the death of His own Son. We are missing out on nothing of any import or eternal value by living in the Spirit rather than in the flesh. Our adversary the devil will lie to you by telling you God doesn’t want you to have any fun, but the fun that is had is fleeting, temporal and most of the time produces consequences that are undesirable. God knows what is best for us at all times.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
