“No
temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is
faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you
are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.“ (1 Corinthians 10:13)
The
temptation to do that which you know you ought not do is common to all men.
Christians have a weapon to combat these temptations and that is the Holy
Spirit. He will guide and direct us
throughout our life if we let Him. He
will provide a way of escape if we will avail ourselves of it.
The
trouble with temptation is that it’s appealing.
When we’re confronted with them it is hard to see or hear anything
else. It’s the siren’s song; that which
allures us to its’ call only to destroy us.
Proverbs 14:12 tells us “There is a way that seems right, but in the end
it leads to death.” It could be physical
death or spiritual death depending on the nature of the temptation, but either
way it is the wrong path to take.
Sometimes it is only after the damage is done that we realize our tragic
error in judgment. A way of escape was
available, but we ignored it in favor of that which seemed to be a better
option.
We
must turn from any and all temptation that threatens to take us down. Do this by immersing yourself in God.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
