May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 15:5-6)
What is the mind of Christ? His general “attitude of mind” was not to please Himself, but rather one of obedience to the will of the Father. We are to be like-minded with our Lord. Our Heavenly Father will give us the “endurance and the encouragement” to follow suit with Christ in obedience to be of one mind and voice in the glorification of God. We must keep our focus sharp and our vision clear. We must seek the face of God daily to deal effectively with the complexities of life. We are to love one another and seek to bless rather than curse. We are to praise the name of our God through good and bad times alike. We are to recognize the greatness of our God and seek to serve Him with our lives. This is the example Christ left for us; it is His life we are to emulate.
