When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. (Hebrews 6:13-15)
They say patience is a virtue. With God patience is essential. Without patience, we would be racing ahead of Him, getting into all sorts of trouble. Paul cites God’s promise to Abraham from Genesis 22:17 to show his readers and us that what we have been promised, if we wait patiently, we shall receive. We must understand that time means nothing to God. In 2 Peter 3:8, we are told that to God one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day. Time means something to us; too much in many cases. God knows the beginning from the end. He will provide that which we are in need of and will honor His promises when the time is right. We think we know, but in all honesty, we haven’t got a clue. Exercise your faith in God by trusting in and relying on Him for His promises to be fulfilled in His time. Until next time … walk with the King and be a blessing!
