“The mind
governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and
peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to
God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot
please God.” (Romans 8:6-8)
Living on your own apart from
God can be a lonely existence. You fill your
life with people as empty as you and partake in things that offer temporal
satisfaction. The death being spoken of
is not of a physical nature, but rather of a spiritual nature. We know from Hebrews 11:6 that it’s
impossible to please God without faith.
This is because the Judeo-Christian belief system is based on belief in
the unseen as if it can be seen, which defines faith.
Those who are governed by the
whims of the flesh avoid Godly influences seeing them as restrictive. They see Christianity as a list of “do’s
& don’ts”. To put it in today’s
vernacular, they see it as a “buzz kill”.
Misunderstanding the tenants of Christianity has left them on a wayward
path with no compass. When operating in
the flesh they are incapable of submitting to God’s laws. They are left to operate from a base of their
own resources. Rather than draw from the
infinite resources provided by God they choose to remain autonomous.
To those who embrace a relationship with God, life and peace is yours. While it can be said that a Christian’s life isn’t a cakewalk, living for God is a far better choice than living without Him. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
