“Finally, be
strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so
that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians
6:10-11)
The
armor of God is the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, footwear
that is the gospel of peace, the shield of faith and the helmet of
salvation. Armor is designed to protect
ones vital organs from the enemy.
Knowing we have this armor at our disposal, we should take full
advantage of it and put it on so that the wiles of the enemy do not trip us
up.
Ephesians 4:27 tells us not to give the
devil a foothold. Think of what a
foothold is; it’s a “firm or secure position that provides a base for further advancement”*.
We want the devil to retreat, not advance against us. He can do nothing to us lest God allow it or
if we give him a foothold.
We can stand
strong against any foe when we wear God’s armor. No harm shall befall us if we have on the full armor of God. Only that which is meant to cause spiritual
growth will come to pass. At that point
we must learn our lessons well and proceed.
But the enemy has no part to play in our lives if our focus is on God
and we are wearing our armor. Until next
time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
