“For we did
not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He
received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from
the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well
pleased.’ We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with
him on the sacred mountain.” (2 Peter 1:16-18)
There are those in the world
today who demand proof that God exists. Science is their god and they
unabashedly proclaim it. If they could
only put aside their preconceived notions long enough to truly hear what is
required to believe. Faith is required, belief in the unseen. Proof negates the need for faith and shall never,
ever be provided to an unbelieving heart.
Unfortunately,
many non-believers find it easier to believe in galaxies that are so distant
they cannot be seen. How is that
different than believing in a God who cannot be seen? God desires that we willingly relinquish
control of our will to Him understanding that He only wants for us that which
is good and wholesome and for our greatest good. Sadly, many times it’s only when their life
lies in ruin that they are willing to even remotely considering calling out to
the unseen God of Christianity.
Peter’s
words should be a great comfort to believers,
for they underline what we already believe to be true. What a major comfort those words should be to
us. Pray that God may soften the hearts
of those who seek proof of His existence.
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
