“We are
therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through
us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be a sin offering
for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians
5:20-21)
An
ambassador is someone who is an authorized messenger for an individual or a
government. When we give our lives over
to God we become His authorized messengers.
He doesn’t need us to present His message of reconciliation, but rather
has definitively chosen us to represent Him.
How are you doing in that role?
To reconcile is to restore a close relationship between two parties or to settle or resolve a dispute. Jesus was the sinless Son of God. It was His blood that was required to provide this reconciliation between God and man. He came to earth to fulfill God’s plan of salvation by becoming a sin offering in our place. We deserved the punishment; He took the blame. Without reconciliation folks must stand on their own on the last day to defend themselves; but there is no defense. The free gift of forgiveness has been offered, yet too many do not accept it. Apparently they don’t understand what’s at stake. It’s partially our fault for misrepresenting who Christ was and is by saying one thing and doing another. Let us strive to be consistent in our walk with God so that the whole world sees Him in us and doesn’t just hear about Him. Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing!
