“For the
message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who
are being saved it is the power of God.”
(1 Corinthians 1:18)
Think
of all those in the world today who ridicule Christian beliefs and you will
understand the above verse a little better.
The notion of anyone dying on a cross is nothing more than a myth or
legend to the unbelieving mind, yet to the one who has chosen to believe it’s
everything. It doesn’t happen to be God’s
fault or responsibility if some never receive forgiveness and die in their
sin. It’s man’s own stubborn will; his
inability to admit their need of anyone’s assistance that gets in the way. Christ on the cross means nothing to the
unrepentant. It’s nothing more than a
symbol that makes them uncomfortable.
Why did the Romans torture
Jesus the way they did? Jesus was nobody
to the Roman soldiers. What we see as a
random act of violence, to them was just part of their job. The Roman symbol of shame and death has become
the most beloved of all Christian symbols; the empty cross. That along with the empty tomb signifies that
Christ is no longer dead, but very much alive.
And so are we if we embrace that truth and let it change our lives. Until next time, walk with the King and be a
blessing!
